Venkaiah Naidu inaugurates underground section of Chennai Metro line from Thirumangalam to Nehru Park

Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu today inaugurated the underground section of Chennai Metro line from Thirumangalam to Nehru Park. The underground section stretching for 7.2 kms of the Chennai Metro Line was already planned to be inaugurated today and reportedly trial runs have been completed n this project.
This was the much awaited project, which came around one month after the commissioner of metro rail safety authorised commercial operations after a three-day inspection across the stretch.
The inauguration of this phase of the project, was jointly funded by the Central and state government, and was expected to be attended by top officials from the ministry of urban development and the state transport department besides other senior officials.
The stations will connect several areas including Kilpauk, New Avadi Road, Shenoy Nagar, Aminjikarai, Anna Nagar and Thirumangalam, giving access to mass transit facility for its residents for the first time.
MC Sampath, state minister for industries, steel control, mines & minerals and special initiatives visited the underground line on Tuesday to look at the status of development..
It was in 2015 that the first rail line of Chennai Metro rail was launched.between Koyambedu and Alandur.
