Two persons were reportedly killed while more than 70 people were injured during a Jallikattu event in the M Pudur village in Cuddalore on Sunday. Reports say that while one person died after being attacked by the bull, another died of shock after a bull ran towards him.

According to a PTI report, the bull broke into the barricade behind which the man was standing and he suffered a cardiac arrest out of shock, dying on the spot, said the police. Over 70 others were injured in the incident during the event, say reports.

Meanwhile, five persons were also reportedly injured in a clash between two groups of bull tamers over an alleged wrong announcement of the prize winners by the organisers. Ten persons have been detained in connection with the clash, say police.

Jallikattu was at the centre of controversy earlier this year when massive protests were carried out against the Supreme Court ban on the bull-taming sport. Following the uproar across Tamil Nadu, the then chief minister O Panneerselvam had brought an ordinance in the state legislative assembly to allow the Jallikattu event to be held across Chennai.
