The Crime Branch of Delhi Police today booked jailed AIADMK leader Sasikala’s nephew and her deputy TTV Dinakaran in connection with a case of attempting to bribe the Election Commission of India (EC) for the party’s symbol ahead of RK Nagar assembly bypolls.
Police said that officials have also seized at least Rs 1.3 crore from Dinakaran’s possession which he was planning to use to bribe Election Commission officials.
“TTV Dinakaran named accused in FIR filed by Delhi Police Crime Branch for allegedly offering bribe for AIADMK’s ‘Two leaves’ symbol’,” news agency ANI quoted sources as saying.

It is said that Dinakaran, deputy general secretary of the ruling party in Tamil Nadu, had told that his faction of the AIADMK can use the frozen party symbol — ‘Two Leaves’ — for Rs 60 crore.
According to police, an FIR has been filed under Section 8 of the Prevention of the Corruption Act. The section pertains to taking gratification, in order, by corrupt or illegal means, to influence public servant. Section 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC has also been invoked.
