Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to attend the national executive meeting of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

With an eye on the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP through the 2-day National Executive meet is expected to chalk out a strategy to strengthen the party’s base in newer areas, especially the eastern and southeast coastal region. The BJP’s national executive meeting is scheduled to take place on April 15-16 after a gap of 20 years.

Apart from the Prime Minister, the two-day BJP national executive meet will see the participation of BJP President Amit Shah, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Nitin Gadkari, M Venkaiah Naidu and veterans LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi.

The meeting will also be attended by the Chief Ministers of 13-BJP ruled states and three Deputy Ministers however, it won’t see External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj as she is suffering with health issues.

“Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to arrive at the state capital by 3.30 p.m. tomorrow and then will proceed to the Raj Bhavan before attending the national executive meet at Janata Maidan at 5 pm,” Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Petroleum and Natural Gas minister, was quoted by ANI as saying.

Following PM’s visit, the security has been beefed up in the area. As quoted by TOI, the police informed that PM Narendra Modi‘s security is being looked after by the Special Protection Group.  13 chief ministers will be provided with Z Plus security whereas, Union home minister Rajnath Singh’s security will be supervised by the national security guard.

Meanwhile, according to the security protocol, the airport area will be made no-flying zone nearly one hour before the landing of the PM’s flight.

The TOI report further states that starting from the airport till Raj Bhawan and then to Janta Maidan, the entire route has been divided into five sectors from the security point of view. The report also quotes DGP as saying that the PM and his carcade of 23 vehicles will head towards the Raj Bhawan from airport following which the BJP national executive meeting will begin at Janta Maidan.
