It may be noted that this is the second derailment that Uttar Pradesh has witnessed in less than a month’s time. The coaches derailed between Mundapandey and Rampur according to the ministry of Railways.

The ministry’s tweet claimed that only one person has been injured in the accident while ground reports said that at least a dozen have sustained injuries.

The incident is said to have taken place at around 8 AM on Saturday. Rescue operations are currently underway with railway authorities and police assisting in the same. The railway ministry said that the Divisional railway manager and a medical team were present at the accident site.

It may be recalled that on March 30, eight coaches of Mahakaushal Express derailed on the stretch between Kulpahar and Mahoba in Uttar Pradesh, leaving more than 40 people injured. Four AC coaches, one sleeper class coach, two general coaches and a luggage coach of the Mahakaushal Express derailed around 2.30 am.
